In December 2022, SDR Park Alliance was awarded $3.285mm from New York State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative Award. All of the money will go to the NYC Parks Department towards the beautification of the Chinatown section of Sara D. Roosevelt Park whose boundaries include: Broome Street to the north and Canal Street to the south, including the Pit, to enhance neighborhood use of the park (Chinatown, Lower East Side, Little Italy) and improve safety. With the investments in Sara D. Roosevelt Park and other public spaces, the community can begin its recovery.
